Darjeeling-Kalimpong

Darjeeling is a town and municipality in the northernmost region of the Indian state of West Bengal. Located in the Eastern Himalayas, it has an average elevation of 2,045 metres (6,709 ft). To the west of Darjeeling lies the easternmost province of Nepal, to the east the Kingdom of Bhutan, to the north the Indian state of Sikkim, and farther north the Tibet Autonomous Region region of China. Bangladesh lies to the south and southeast, and most of the state of West Bengal lies to the south and southwest, connected to the Darjeeling region by a narrow tract. Kangchenjunga, the world’s third-highest mountain, rises to the north and is prominently visible on clear days.

Kalimpong is a town and the headquarters of an eponymous district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is located at an average elevation of 1,250 metres (4,101 ft). The municipality sits on a ridge overlooking the Teesta River and is a tourist destination owing to its temperate climate, natural environment and proximity to popular tourist locations in the region. Horticulture is important to Kalimpong. It has a flower market notable for its wide array of orchids; nurseries, which export Himalayan grown flower bulbs, tubers and rhizomes, contribute to the economy of Kalimpong. The Tibetan Buddhist monastery Zang Dhok Palri Phodang holds a number of rare Tibetan Buddhist scriptures.

DARJEELING ROCK GARDEN Early morning tour to Tiger Hills (8364 Ft / 2550 Mts at around 3.30 AM) to view sunrise over Kanchendzonga Peak (subject to clear weather).On way back visit Ghoom Monastery: is the popular name of Yiga Choeling Monastery located at Ghum at an elevation of 8,000 feet, 8 km from Darjeeling in the state of West Bengal, India. The monastery follows the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. Batasia Loop: is a spiral railway created to lower the gradient of ascent of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway in Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India. At this point, the track spirals around over itself through a tunnel and over a hilltop, Back to hotel & take breakfast. After breakfast day free to visit Darjeeling local sightseeing Japanese Temple: is one of the Peace Pagodas designed to provide a focus for people of all races and creeds to help unite them in their search for world peace. It is located in the town of Darjeeling in the Indian state of West Bengal. Like most of the other Peace Pagodas, it was built under the guidance of Nichidatsu Fujii a Buddhist monk from Japan. Peace pagoda: is one of the Peace Pagodas designed to provide a focus for people of all races and creeds to help unite them in their search for world peace Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Closed on Thursday): was established in Darjeeling, India on November 4, 1954 to encourage mountaineeringas an organized sport in India. The first ascent of Mount Everest in 1953 by Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary sparked a keen interest in establishing mountaineering as a well-respected endeavor for people in the region. With the impetus provided by the first prime minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, HMI was established in Darjeeling. Tenzing Norgay was the first director of field training for HMI. Tenzing Rock: a gigantic natural rock in Darjeeling is named after Tenzing Norgay, the man who created history by climbing the Everest first time along with Edmund Hillary in 1953. Opposite to this is the Gombu Rock named after Nawang Gombu, nephew of Tenzing who was the first person to climb the Everest twice, once in 1963 and then in 65. Ava Art gallery: You can’t miss this bright purple and yellow colored two storied building on the left as you drive along the main highway or the Hill Cart Road towards Darjeeling town center. At the outskirts of the town and 4km (i.e. some 2.5 miles) away, Ava Art Gallery was jointly established in 1965 by Late Ava Devi who was known as a genius of embroidery art, and Bhopal Rao Sett. This is the only art gallery of its kind in Darjeeling. Rock Garden & outer view of a Tea Estate, etc (Depending upon Time). Back to hotel and get fresh. Overnight stay at hotel. (B/D)

DARJEELING
DARJEELING TO KALIMPONG DAY TRIP After Breakfast transfer to Kalimpong (4,100 ft.) for day trip. Enjoy Kalimpong sightseeing visiting Mangal Dham, Deolo Hill, Dr. Graham’s Home, Golf Garden, Durpin Dara Hills & amp; Flower Nurseries. Evening back to Darjeeling & overnight stay there. Departure
DARJEELING-MIRRIK – S.R. SHYAMOLI COUNTER VIA MIRRIK (ABOUT 110 KMS / 4 HRS) After that transfer to Mirrik. Enjoy Nepal Border on the way & dropt to Bus counter.
